Sin corrupted creation

Creationists are often going on about the world and pointing out how wonderful it is. “Look what God created. Isn’t it amazing?”

Yes, the world is an amazing place, but there’s no need to attribute magical beings to it. Let’s also realise that nature is full of horrors and grotesqueness too. It isn’t all just butterflies, snowflakes and fluffy bunnies like creationists would like to focus on. It’s full of horrors like viruses, parasites, vicious carnivorous beasts and many more ugly and terrible things. If God created this world then he is also responsible for them too.

All God's works are perfect?
All God's works are perfect?

There will be creationists out there who reject this. They will try to claim that no, God didn’t create those things. It’s human’s sin that ruined everything. When sin entered creation, Herbivores became Carnivores, non-venomous creatures became venomous creatures and some became parasitical. Viruses and harmful bacteria started cropping up. Mutations occurred. Lands became dry and famines became common. Natural disasters began to happen. It was all due to the sin of Adam and Eve that this world became so corrupted.

But wait. The only way a perfect creation can become corruptible is if it was part of the design. God, himself, had to have created it in a way that it would become corrupted once sin entered the system. It can be no other way if all God’s works are perfect and everything is exactly the way God intended it.

We have a god who created huge flaws in his system where one act of disobedience from a human could screw it all up. If these flaws were created intentionally, that would be malevolent design. If it were unintentional then it would be incompetent or apathetic design and we would not be able to call it perfect. This is a huge bug… or virus in the system.

I hear the creationists saying, that God specifically gave humans instructions, but we silly humans didn’t follow them. It’s human’s fault for defying the God who created them and the universe.

But no, you can’t entirely blame the humans for screwing it up. They are not responsible for design, just as a user is not responsible for bugs or viruses in a computer system. Let me use an analogy.

A man designs a computer system from the ground up. He includes a button on the keyboard and then, in the user manual, warns all users never to press that button or they will die. A human decides, or is tricked into, pressing the button. The computer then triggers a nuclear explosion which destroys the entire city.

Who is to blame for this nuclear destruction? The user of the computer? Maybe to a very small extent, but it’s the designer who ultimately has to be held accountable. They should never have designed the system in a way that would cause so much destruction. They would be on trial for genocide.

God is clearly responsible for the corruption of his own creation, for including fatal flaws in his design. But what makes it even worse is that he knew full well when he created this planet, that humans were going to go against his wishes and screw it all up. But yet he created those flaws anyway.

This is not an act of intelligent design. Nor does it show a god who is loving and caring. This is a god who deliberately set up a system knowing full well it was going to become corrupted as soon as a human pressed the wrong button.

Or maybe what we have here is all due to evolution? No one can be blamed for corruption then.
